Sarah Palin “Walks Her Talk?”

September 2, 2008

From CNN online:  http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/02/palin.pregnancy/index.html

What cause for praise!  The woman wants to be Vice President.  OF COURSE her daughter will not have an abortion; she is on the ticket to appeal to the anti-abortion wing of the Republican Party.  She may “walk her talk” for the “right” reason or not, but one thing is certain: she would be of absolutely no value whatsoever to the McCain campaign if her daughter were to have an abortion.  Who knows — since McCain says he was aware of the pregnancy, maybe she was selected precisely because her teenage daughter was pregnant and was not going to have an abortion.

Furthermore, if this shouldn’t be discussed because “families are off-limits,” then it really has nothing to do with Sarah Palin.  It’s her daughter’s choice, not hers — right???  So it’s really not a case of Sarah Palin “walking her talk” at all — it was her daughter’s choice, and that’s off limits.

Palin – Political surprise more important than a good decision?

September 2, 2008

I just finished reading this article http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26501863/ about how McCain’s selection of Sarah Palin came down.  Evidently nobody in the whole wide state of Alaska was asked about Palin (other than Palin herself) prior to the announcement that she would be the VP candidate.  It certainly appears that the desire for maximum political impact (the element of surprise) was deemed by the McCain campaign to be more important than the country’s need for a qualified Vice President.

I hadn’t really used it, but I was “thinking about it.”  But the requirement to sign up for a Google account and turn over my genetic code to them was too much.  So here I am…
